What

Participants will not only be going home with their own fabulous bespoke shade, but will get a thorough grounding into the captivating craft of modern lampshade making (ie: the fabric is bonded to the stiff lining). 

You can choose to make either a drum shape or tapered (Empire) shape shade - options shown at checkout.

In this beginner-level workshop there is a min 6/max 10 students so you are guaranteed personal attention.

Start time is 10am - 1pm finish.

Difficulty

No prior knowlegde, or skills are required - this is Lampshade Making 1.01 .  I'll be taking you step by step through each stage of the process, and doing my best to make this learning process as enjoyable as possible!  

Tip:  Of the 2 shapes available in this workshop - Drum shades are slightly easier

What's included

• All the supplies you'll need are included (except fabric).. this includes professional quality adhesive backings, frames, and tools
• We'll be stopping for a short morning tea - tea and coffee and homemade biccies supplied

What to bring

• BYO fabric*, or purchase in store from the HUUUGE selection available
• If you have a pair of good fabric scissors please bring them
• Please bring an old credit, or store loyalty card (something that doesn't matter if it gets a bit bent)

Fabric

QTY:  you need a minimum size piece of full-width (110cm) x 50cm

TYPE:   best types are lightweight cotton, or poly-cotton mix;  linen or any other lightweight natural fibres, IE:  quilting fabric is IDEAL!

Tip:  Avoid anything with a loose, open, coarse weave;  upholstery weight;  slinky or sheer

What else

• Kits are available to purchase if you'd like to turn your lampshade into a pair, or another size/shape entirely

Cancellation 

Due to the difficulties of refilling short-notice vacancies in small-group workshops:

• 7-0 days before the workshop, sorry - No refund for cancellation, but...
• ...  tickets are fully transferrable, so if you can't make it - it's fine to pass it on to a friend to come instead
